Manager’s update
It has been an eventful 2 weeks since our FA Cup match at the Nest against Mulbarton where we snatched a replay from the jaws of defeat very late in the day only to then go out in disappointing circumstances in the replay.
Our equaliser that day was spectacular and such is the power of social media was seen by over 50000 people thanks to great work by our Media manager Travis. We started well on the day but Mulbarton gained the upper hand and looked as though they would see the game out until Casey stuck a volley in the top corner in the 99th minute. Euan Banks from our U18's made a full debut in the game getting 90 minutes and did well which was great to see.
Onto the Tuesday and a game marred by a terrible injury to Craig Nurse, he was brilliantly treated by both physio's and I have nothing but compliments for our hosts and how they handled matters. We wish Craig a full recovery and hope to see him here today as that process begins. In my opinion the game should not have re-started after the 70 minute delay, however the officials were very keen to complete, hopefully lessons can be learnt from this on their part after the incident in the summer we should not be carrying on in those circumstances. That said we battled well holding the lead until the 75th minute when we imploded with two very avoidable red cards not helping our cause, it was a sad way to end a historic few day's at the club. Hopefully Mulbarton go on and have a good run in the competition from here and we will follow their results.
Since the return to football, we have struggled with Covid in and around the first team. This led to us missing the last two weeks of pre-season to try and contain the issue but last week we felt we had to have a firebreak to hopefully get on top of any cases. This led to us asking Whitton United to postpone last weekend's fixture which they were happy to agree to.
Onto Saturday and we welcome a Wroxham side in imperious form, having won their past 14 TN League games. I think it is no underestimation to rank them as favourites for promotion and will provide us with a very stern test today. This is the reason however we wanted promotion, to be able to pit our wits against the best and raise our standards.
